Department of General Medicine on the occasion of World Rheumatoid Arthritis Day (Celebrated on 12^th Oct 2023) Dr. D. Y Patil Medical College & Hospital celebrated it on17^th October 2023. The theme was “Living with Rheumatic & Musculoskeletal disease at all stages of life”.

The event was graced by Dr. Shubhangi Kanitkar Professor & Head Department of General Medicine, Dr. Girish Kakade (consultant Rheumatologist, Jupiter Hospital), Dr. Shweta Khopde, (Assistant Professor, General Medicine), Dr. Anisha Kwatra (Fellow), Dr. Basu (Associate Professor, Department of Physiotherapy)

Dr. Shubhangi Kanitkar enlightened the patients on early diagnosis and compliances of treatment in patients of rheumatoid Arthritis. Dr. Girish Kakade further added that these diseases are seen in all age groups from paediatrics to Geriatrics and early diagnosis and proper treatment gives a healthy life. Importance of exercise was explained by Dr. Shweta Khopde. Further, the Department of Physiotherapy under the guidance of Dr. Basu taught some easy exercises.

A skit on importance of early diagnosis and proper treatment was performed by nursing students. The event was followed by high tea and snacks with distribution of knee caps and hot water bags to the needy patients.

Dr. D.Y Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre has a dedicated rheumatology OPD under the guidance of Dr. Shubhangi Kanitkar on Tuesday and Friday by Dr. Girish Kakade and Dr. Shweta Khopde.
