A one-day National Medicolegal CME 2023 on “Prevalent Medicolegal Challenges in Clinical Practice” was organized by Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Center, Pimpri, Pune in association with Indian Medical Association- Pimpri Chinchwad Bhosari Branch & Supreme Medicolegal Forum on 17^th September 2023 at Lecture Hall no.5. The Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) had allotted 2 MMC credit points. The details of Organizing Committee are as under:

Proceeding Report: -

1. The inauguration of the National Medicolegal CME was held at the hands of Chief Guest J. S. Bhawalkar, Dean, Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre. Pimpri, Pune in the presence of Dr. P. Vatsalawamy, Director Academics, Dr. Parag Sancheti, Dr. Dilip Kamat, Dr. Sushil Muthiyan, Dr. Aniruddh Tongaonkar, Adv. Sadhana Sonawane, Dr. Milind Sonawane, Dr. Ajay Ghangale, Dr. Ashwinikumar Sapate.
2. All dignitaries along with Parag Sancheti as MMC observer were felicitated by Organising committee.
3. Ajay Ghangale & Dr. Milind Sonawane explained the purpose of CME in their inaugural speech.
4. P. Vatsalawamy, Dr. J. S. Bhawalkar & Dr. Sushil Muthiyan, gave valuable guidance to the audience.
5. Vote of thanks was given by Dr. Ashwinikumar Sapate
6. 2 National Speakers & 6 State Speakers presented their views on topics related to ‘Prevalent Medicolegal Challenges in Clinical Practice’ in the National Medicolegal CME.
7. This National CME was divided into 5 Sessions as per scientific program. In first 4 Scientific sessions, 2 Speaker per session presented their topics followed by question answers.
8. First session was chaired by Dr. Dilip Kamat & Dr. Dharmendra Sharma and speakers Dr. Rajeev Joshi and Dr. Mandar Karmarkar presented topics “Digitalization of Hospital Records: Medical & Medicolegal” and “Court cases related to Obstetrics & Gynecology” respectively.
9. Second session was chaired by Dr. Sanjay Devadhar & Dr. Ravi Rautji and speakers Dr. Indrajeet Khandekar and Dr. Ravindra Deokar presented topics “MLC vis-à-vis MCCD, Police information & Postmortem examination: Removing misconceptions for services to Humanity” and “Violence against Doctors/Hospitals: Prevention, Administrative & Legal Resource” respectively.
10. The third session was chaired by Dr. Sanjeev Datye & Dr. Ajay Taware and speakers Dr. Praveen Arora and Dr. Jayant Navrange presented topics “Challenges of Social Media & Telemedicine in Medical Profession” and “Recent NMC Protocols for Medical Profession”.
11. A brief Quiz on medicolegal scenarios was conducted by Dr. Sudhir Bhalerao.
12. Fourth session was chaired by Dr. Vijay Satav & Dr. Neeraj Dingre and speakers Dr. Col. C. S. Makhani and Dr. Naresh Zanjad presented topics “Collection, Preservation & dispatch of Material Evidence of Medicolegal importance” and “Overcoming the challenges of Lawsuit against Doctors/Hospitals”.
13. Lastly, the Fifth Session was on Panel Discussion on the topic of ‘Medical Practice: Threats, Litigations & Defenses’ with 5 eminent Experts in the field of Medicine & Law. This panel discussion was coordinated by Dr. Milind Sonawane & Dr. Rahul Band. There was active participation of the audience in the discussion.
14. Parag Sancheti attended and observed the event throughout as MMC Observer.
15. CME ended with a Vote of thanks which was given by Dr. Rahul Band.
