1. A training workshop on ‘Systematic Reviews and Meta analysis’ was organized by Dr Srikanth Tripathy (Director Medical Research) and was coordinated by Dr Priyanka Kale, Central Research facility for the faculty of Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre Pune on 3^rd July 2023 at the Medical Education Unit Hall from 2pm to 4.30pm.
The training workshop was conducted in two sessions: Session 1 was on Systematic Review and the Dr. Sachin Atre (Research Consultant & Adjunct Faculty) was the speaker and Session 2 was on Meta analysis and Dr. Hetal Rathod (Professor and Head, Department of Preventive Social Medicine) was the speaker.
2. The training was attended by a total of 42 staff (teaching faculty members from 37 departments and junior staff members of the Central Research Facility).In Session 1: Dr Sachin Atre covered the aspects of writing a systematic review, as an attempts to gather all available empirical research on a topic by using clearly defined, systematic methods to obtain answers to a specific question. He also touched upon authorship guidelines.In Session 2: Dr Hetal Rathod covered a brief introduction of meta-analysis. She explained the statistical process of analyzing and combining results from several similar studies using forest plots.
3. The session concluded with an interactive question answer session on systematic reviews and meta-analysis. At the end of the training the participants were provided with slide handouts of the training sessions and a soft copy of the ICMR Beginner’s Guide to Systematic Reviews.

A further sequel to this training with hands on experience to the attendees on carrying out a systematic review and meta-analysis would be planned soon.
