The ‘Resident as Teacher workshop’ was organized by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Medical Education Unit of Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Pune for Junior Residents (Admission batch 2021 and 2022). It was conducted from 27^th April to 28^th April 2023. This workshop was attended by 24 residents of the OBGY department.

Opening remarks and guidance for the residents were given by Professor and Head of Department, Dr. Hemant Deshpande Sir. The workshop started with the introduction of participants as well as faculty and pre-test. The objectives of the workshop were shared. The document of the Postgraduate curriculum as per NMC was shared. The residents were asked to read the document and decide about the working plan for their studies.

Dr. H. Bal, Professor, and Unit Head OBGY introduced Teaching Learning Methods and demonstrated the principles and processes of adult learning Domains and Taxonomy. Dr. Shilpa Kshirsagar and Dr. Swati Bhakare continued with curriculum outcomes and Objectives of Adult learning. Group discussion on the Fishbowl technique was conducted by Dr. Meenal Patwekar and Dr. Shilpa Kshirsagar under the guidance of Dean, Dr. J. S. Bhawalkar. He gave his valuable input for Group Discussion. He also addressed the need for sincerity, Commitment, and punctuality from residents. He advised all to enter day-to-day activities into the E Logbook as per requirement by NMC.

One minute preceptor (OMP) method was shared by Dr. Rashmi Prashant, Professor, Dept. of ENT. The workshop also demonstrated Microteaching Session by Dr. Bageshree Pande from the Department of Physiology and Dr. Pallavi Bajpeyee from the Anatomy Department.

The AETCOM module was shared with the group for the self-directing module. Dr. Pramila Menon used case scenarios from the module to explain the principles of bioethics.

On the second day, that is on 28 April, the workshop began with a debriefing about the previous day's session. The group was explained the written assessment methods like LAQ, SAQ, and MCQs for cognitive domains. This was followed by Debriefing to understand the learning of the group. The communication skills were taught through role play by Dr. Sukesh Kathpalia. The group discussion session was moderated by Dr. Pankaj Salvi. Large group teaching was taught with a focus on its advantages and challenges. The group activity made the session interesting. Different methods like the Confusion technique, Quiz, Jokes, and Storytelling were used for making the lecture more effective and interactive. The session was addressed by Dr. Sukesh Kathpalia.

Dr. Hetal Waghela and Dr. Pallavi Bajpayee from the Professor Anatomy department took sessions on Reflection and Feedback respectively. The sessions were interactive, and the group was asked to write structured feedback and reflection. Dr. Kathpalia and Dr. Bal explained about Performance assessments which included OSCE/OSLER/Clinical Skills to bring out objectivity and skill building.

Few residents performed microteaching sessions and other residents were asked to propose Microteaching sessions in the department and get feedback. The post-test was conducted. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Shilpa Kshirsagar.

Values like, to become good clinicians, we need to be a good communicator and understand the principles of ethics and research, Professionalism, leadership qualities, qualities of a good teacher, etc were imbibed through this workshop.
