Institutional IQAC and Department of Emergency Medicine organized Training on ‘Basic Life Support’ on 17^th March 2023 for Teaching and Non-teaching staff from Department of Respiratory Medicine Department, Nephrology Department, Neurosurgery Department, Urology Department, Cardiology Department, Medical Surgical Gastroenterology Department, Microbiology Department.

The training was conducted by Dr. Maya Jamkar (Professor) & Dr.Sathish Kottaisamy(Senior Resident). They explained the following:-

First and foremost scene safety is important.
Check for response, call for help if not responsive. See for carotid pulse & chest rise simultaneously for at least 5 seconds to a maximum of 10 seconds.
CPR has to be started with effective chest compression: breaths @ 30:2 at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute.
In case of outside hospital call or active ERS right after starting CPR.
Assess the response of the individual after 5 complete cycles of CPR.
Do not confuse for your own pulse of the finger as the Carotid pulse & close check by palpating.
Don’t perform chest compressions if the patient has pulse and no rescue breath, just give rescue breath every 5-6 seconds.
If the pulse has returned wait for the ambulance to receive at the scene and attend the patient.

Total 32 participants attended the training. All the participants satisfied with their queries and help to improve their knowledge.
