“World Obesity day” was successfully celebrated on Thursday, 9^th March 2023 at Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune.

There has been a constant rise in childhoodobesity and more so after Covid. It is an ongoing Pandemic. Childhood obesity predisposes the child for early non communicable diseases like T1DM, Hypertension, NASH as well as Mental disorders at an early age. The key to preventing obesity is to act early, ideally even before a baby is conceived.Awareness can bring change in this scenario.

With that in view Obesity Day was celebrated in Paediatric Department. The Program schedule was as below.

“Approach to Paediatric Obesity” A lecture by Dr. Sajili Mehta (Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist, Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune) was conducted with the aim of educating young paediatricians and Paediatrics trainees regarding practical aspects of childhood obesity, approach to prevention and management. Thus making them more confident to manage children with Obesity in their practice.

A Parody Performed by Post graduate students for parents and children focusing on causes of obesity, its prevention and management to improve awareness

The Program was well attended with active participation.
