The Department of Pathology organized a Guest Lecture on the topic of “Overview of the New WHO classification of CNS tumor 2021” by Dr. Aparna Joshi on 30^th November 2022 at 2pm in the College auditorium. It was attended by 70 faculty and PG students.

The session started at 2:00 pm with formal inauguration done in the presence of Dean Dr. J. S. Bhawalkar, Director Academics/IQAC Dr. (Mrs.) P. Vatsalaswamy, HOD Pathology Dr. Charusheela Gore and speaker Dr. Aparna Joshi. Welcome speech was given by Dr. Charusheela Gore. The anchoring was looked after by Dr. Mangesh Londhe. Guest of honour was introduced by Dr. Padmakar Badrapurkar. There was active participation by the department of Neurosurgery under the guidance of Dr. Ashish Chug and other audience. Minutes of discussion are as follows –

Issues of frozen section reporting and adequacy:- A minimum of diagnosis of tumor type with grade is expected.
Minimum basic IHC panel to be included is p53, IDH, ATRX, Ki 67 which is already available in Dept. of Pathology.
For secondary GBM, the background tumor needs to be mentioned.
Monoclonal IHC antibodies are more preferred over polyclonal type.

The session ended by presenting shawl, memento and certificate to the speaker followed by vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Archana Buch.

The academic discussion continued with the speaker and senior faculty during the high tea session at Department of Pathology.
