Department of General Medicine arranged a Guest Lecture by international speaker, Dr. Richard P Hobson on 11^th November 2022.

Dr. Richard P Hobson, MBBS, LLM, PhD, MRCP(UK), FRCPath, Consultant Microbiologist (Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust), Honorary Senior Lecturer (University of Leeds, UK). Dr Hobson was a chapter author for the 21^st and 22^nd editions of Davidson’s Principles and Practice and an editor for 23^rd and 24^th editions.

\n\n

Dr. Hobson visited Dr.D.Y.Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre on 11^th November, 2022 as part of his guest lecture tour in India. Dr. S. A.Kanitkar (Professor and HOD, Department of General Medicine) gave a welcome speech. The guest lecture was attended by undergraduate and post graduate students, faculty of department of medicine and microbiology and HODs of few departments. Dr. Vatsalaswamy & Dr. A. L .Kakrani also graced the lecture.

Dr. Hobson delivered a lecture on “Fungal infections with a focus on mucormycosis”. After the lecture Dr. Hobson interacted with the students and faculty and discussed all the questions asked by them. After this Dr. Ridhima(Lecturer, Department of General Medicine) gave a vote of thanks. Dr. Hobson gifted a Copy of 24^th edition of Davidson’s principles and practice textbook to Department of General Medicine. Later post graduate students and undergraduate students interacted personally with Dr. Hobson and some of them got signed copies of Davidson textbook and clicked pictures with the speaker. After the session Dr. Hobson took a quick tour of Microbiology department.
