for Medical, Dental, Nursing, Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences Teaching Faculty - To Implement the Integrated Bioethics Curriculum in Medical, Dental Nursing, Pharmacy and Health Science Training

\n\n

The 3T-IBHSc Bioethics Teaching Faculty Development Course for teaching faculty at Dr DY Patil Vidyapeeth was organised by DPU Unit of Bioethics from 10^th to 12^th August 2022. Three full-days program teaching the modern vertically integrated bioethics curriculum based on the core curriculum, which reflects the 15 principles enshrined in the UNESCO’s Universal declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights (2005). The course and methodology were developed by experts under the Department of Education of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics Haifa. The 3T IBHSc program is built to Teach, Train and Transfer (Bioethics and Human Rights knowledge) Integrated Bioethics in the Health Sciences.
\nTotal 48 Teaching Faculties from Medical, Dental and Health Sciences from DPU had participated actively and enthusiastically in this course namely

Dr Russell D’Souza, Director, Dept of Education, Melbourne Australia was leading the course along with 5 Accredited 3T-IBHSC Course Trainers.

Dr. K Gireesh, national training faculty consultant neurosurgeon and neurologist Chennai and Dr. Vivek Mady, National training faculty consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist and expert in health law from Chennai and Dr. M Sreenivas National training faculty professor and head department of forensic medicine and toxicology MAMC Delhi, Who have travelled from different parts of India and conducted this teaching and skills building interactive sessions passionately. Dr Derek D’Souza, Director of National bioethics curriculum, was one of the international training faculty. Dr. Shailaja Mane, Professor, Dept. of Paediatrics was a trainee faculty during this 3T - IBHSc Course.
\nThere was a mandatory simulated micro-teaching assessment with feedback at the end of the course.

Inauguration of this 3T - IBHSc was done by Chief Guest Dr. Vedprakash Mishra, National Head of the Academic Programme of Indian Programme of International chair in Bioethics & Member of the International Committee for Bioethics for Asia Pacific Region, Chief Advisor to Hon’ble Chancellor of Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (Deemed to be University), Karad, Pro-Chancellor, Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences (Deemed to be University), Nagpur. He had given motivating talk ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vice-Chancellor, Dr. N.J. Pawar, Registrar Dr. A. N. Suryakar, Dr. (Mrs.) P. Vatsalaswamy, Director academics and IQAC, Dr. A. L Kakrani Director of Academic Collaborations & Professor of Clinical Eminence for had given guidance and support.

Dr. J. S. Bhawalkar sir, Head of the DPU Unit, International Chair in Bioethics and Dean, Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Pune had given welcome address.

\n\n

Valedictory function of 3T Workshop was conducted on 12^th August 2022. The Chief Guest of the function was Dr. Bhagyashree Patil, Pro Chancellor Dr. DY Patil Vidyapeeth Pune. Guest of honour was Dr. Russell D’Souza, Director, Dept of Education, Head Asia Pacific Region, Melbourne Australia.

Re-establishment of DPU Unit of International Chair in Bioethics was done in this function. Dr. Russell D’Souza had handed over the writ to Dr. Bhagyashree Patil, Pro-chancellor, D Y Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune.

\n\n

The steering committee of Faculty was re-established by handing over the writ of reestablishment of DPU Unit to the Head of Unit, Secretary of steering committee, Senior faculty advisors; this was followed by re-establishment of Student’s wing of DPU Unit of International Chair in Bioethics by handing over the writs to head of students’ wing, secretary, joint secretaries, & coordinators of the students’ wing and more than 100 students were inducted into the re-established DPU Unit of International Chair in Bioethics.
