It was an extreme delight and honour to have Dr. Arindam Chakraborty as a guest faculty. He is a renowned psychiatrist currently working in the USA. He pursued residency from one of India’s top institutes, Asha Hospital, Hyderabad, where he graduated with a DNB degree in psychiatry. Furthermore, he then went on to pursue MD Psychiatry from SIU, Illinois, USA. Dr. Chakraborty has cultivated a great name in his ten years of working in USA. He is regarded as one of the finest academician, researcher and clinician by his patients and peers alike.
On 16^th January 2025, he delivered an emphatic presentation in department of psychiatry on “orientation to epigenetics”, its importance and its numerous clinical implications. He captured the interest of each resident and faculty in the room and clearly demonstrated how cells control gene activity without changing the DNA sequence. He further tied this concept clinically when he spoke of helping to treat several neurodevelopmental disorders including Prader Willi syndrome through epigenetics.
One of the key marker stones of a great teacher is to not only make difficult topics easy to comprehend, but to leave students curious about further learning and Dr. Chakraborty did just that. We are eagerly waiting to be able to share this honour again someday when Dr. Chakraborty returns for another guest lecture.
