The Department of Emergency Medicine, in association with the departments of General Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Forensic and Toxicology, and Association with Emergency Medicine Educators, conducted the workshop “ToxArtistry” on the 5th of December 2024 at the Medical College Auditorium from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The purpose of toxicology continuing medical education (CME) is to ensure that healthcare professionals, particularly those in emergency medicine, toxicology, and related fields, stay up-to-date with the latest research, treatments, and guidelines for managing toxic exposures and poisoning. Key goals of toxicology CME include improving patient care, knowledge of new drugs and poisons, enhancing diagnostic and therapeutic skills, evidence-based practice, legal and ethical awareness, and responding to emerging public health threats.

The event was graced by our honorable vice chancellor, Dr. N. J. Pawar; registrar, Dr. J. S. Bhawalkar; respected dean, Dr. A. Rekha; respected director of academics, Dr. P. Vatsalaswamy; and respected director of academic collaborations & professor of clinical eminence, Dr. A. L. Kakrani.

The keynote speakers were Dr. Venkat Kotamraju, consultant in emergency medicine and clinical toxicologist, Royal Derby Hospital, United Kingdom. Dr. Sadanand Raut, President and Trustee, Vighnahar Medical Foundation and Member of the National Snake Bite Treatment Guideline Committee. Dr. D.B. Kadam, Professor, Department of Medicine. Smt. Kashibai Navale Medical College and General Hospital, Pune. The various eminent speakers from other medical colleges and hospitals in and around Pune, Mumbai, and Nashik attended the event and shared their knowledge and experience in the field of toxicology.

A total of 250 delegates attended this event, consisting of consultants, residents, and other health care professionals. We also got the approval for 2 MMC credit points.

The CME concluded with a panel discussion providing participants with an opportunity to test their knowledge and reinforce key concepts. The CME was highly appreciated by residents and faculty. Participants gained valuable experience. They reinforced the knowledge acquired during the CME. The success of the CME is attributed to the dedication of the organizing committee, speakers, faculty, volunteers, participants, and management of the hospital.
