The Department of Geriatric Medicine celebrated ‘International Day of Older Persons’ on 1^st October 2024. The program involved a health talk about awareness to the elderly on the theme of ‘Aging with Dignity.’ The event was graced by Dr. J. S. Bhawalkar (Dean), Dr. Mrs. Vatasalaswany (Director Academics), and Dr. H. H. Chavan (Medical Superintendent), who delivered a small talk on the theme.

Dr. Anu Gaikwad (Prof. and HOD), Dr. Harishchandra Chaudhari (Associate Prof.), and Dr. Shruti Karnik (Assistant Prof.) of the Department of Geriatric Medicine also emphasized the importance of a separate Geriatric Dept. for the elderly. The event concluded with the creation of ABHA IDs for all elderly present for the program with the support of Dr. H.H. Chavan, Medical Superintendent.

A webinar on ‘Management of Diabetes’ in the elderly was also organized for training the health care professionals on Zoom by Dr. Anu Gaikwad (Prof. & HOD). The program was greatly appreciated by all the dignitaries and elderly patients.
