The All-India Ophthalmic Society Academic and Research Committee (ARC) PG Refresher Course (West Zone) was successfully held at Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune from July 26th to 28th, 2024. This event was conducted in association with the Maharashtra Ophthalmic Society and the Poona Ophthalmic Society.

Program Overview:

Days 1 & 2: The first two days featured didactic lectures delivered by esteemed faculty from across India, covering a wide range of Ophthalmological topics.
Day 3: The final day was dedicated to hands-on training, providing participants with practical experience and skills.

Inauguration Ceremony:

Date & Time: Saturday, July 27th, at 12:30 PM.
Venue: Auditorium.

The inauguration ceremony began with a welcome address by the Organizing Chairman, Dr. (Col) O.K. Radhakrishnan. This was followed by a welcome dance performed by Dr. Krutika Ladi, a first-year resident. The ceremony included the traditional lamp lighting by the dignitaries and an invocation by Dr. Aishwarya Angadi.

The subsequent addresses were given by :

Hon. President MOS, Dr. Santosh Agarwal: Provided an insightful address on the importance of the refresher course.
ARC Representatives, Dr. Prashant Bawankule & Dr. Anagha Heroor: Welcomed the audience and explained in detail the context of the event. They were then felicitated.
Guest of Honor, Dr. Namrata Sharma: Delivered an address and was felicitated.
Chief Guest, Dr. Jeewan Titiyal: Gave a keynote address and was also felicitated.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Organizing Secretary Dr. Radhika Paranjpe, followed by the National Anthem.

Participation:

The program was attended by over 200 PG residents from Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, and Jharkhand. Additionally, the event saw the participation of 75 National faculty members and 54 panelists from all over the country.

The refresher course was well-received, with positive feedback highlighting the quality of the lectures, the effectiveness of the hands-on training and the overall organization of the event.
