The Department of Pathology organized two-day program of Midyear CME in Pathology (MC-IAPM) 2024, on 31^st May & 1^st June 2024. This event brought together 447 delegates in the form of research scholars, faculty, post graduate students, and eminent speakers of national and international repute to discuss various topics highlighting the theme “Under my scope: From basic to recent”. It also included set of oral paper and poster presentations of postgraduate students which were selected by high-quality peer-review process of scientific committee.

The first day of the conference started with an inauguration ceremony with welcome of dignitaries followed by lamp lighting ceremony. The dignitaries included Hon’ble Dr. P. D. Patil, Chancellor, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune and Chief Patron of this CME, Dr. N. J. Pawar, Vice Chancellor, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, Dr. (Brig) Amarjit Singh, Principal Director & CEO, Dr. D.Y.Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune, Dr. (Mrs) P. Vatsalaswamy, Director Academics, Dr. D.Y.Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune; Dr. J. S. Bhawalkar, Dean, Dr. D.Y.Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune and Dr. Shubhangi Agale, Professor in Pathology, GGMC & Sir JJ Group of Hospitals, Mumbai and Chairperson of Association of Pathologists, Maharashtra Chapter of IAPM.

The welcome note and conference overview was given by Dr. Charusheela Gore, Professor & Head of Department of Pathology, Dr. D.Y.Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune and the organizing chairperson of this CME followed by welcome note by Dr. Shubhangi Agale. The later keynote addresses included those given by Dean, Vice Chancellor and Chancellor. The E-souvenir of this CME was released by the hands of Hon’ble Dr. P. D. Patil. The inaugural ceremony ended by vote of thanks by Dr Archana Buch.

The first day witnessed a thorough scientific schedule with pre and post lunch sessions. The pre-lunch session started with Dr. Megha Uppin’s lecture on “Case based approach to muscle biopsy interpretation” which was chaired by Dr. Jyoti Kudrimoti & Dr. Rasika Bharaswadkar. This was followed by Dr. Usha Kini’s talk on “Hirschprung’s disease: Old Paths, New Directions and Moving Frontiers” which was chaired by Dr. Anjali Amrapurkar & Dr. Pranav Jadhav. The next talk was delivered by Dr. Sridhar Epari on two topics which included “Role of frozen for intraoperative consultation of brain tumours in the current histomolecular era” & “Immunohistochemical evaluation in brain tumours: How much of WHO CNS 5^th edition can be achieved?” This session was chaired by Dr. Ashish Chugh & Dr. Reena Bharadwaj. The next topic was delivered by Dr. Megha Uppin on “Case based approach to nerve biopsy interpretation” which was chaired by Dr. Shailesh Rohatgi & Dr. (Col.) S. Venkatesan. The post lunch session was initiated by talk on “Cases with a difference: Beginning of a new story every time. A slide seminar” by Dr. Usha Kini which was chaired by Dr. Rachana Binayke & Dr. Anand Bhosale. This was followed by session on Transplant immunopathology which included lectures on “Pre solid organ transplant evaluation” by Dr. Rahul Kendre and “Post-transplant monitoring in solid organ transplant” by Dr. (Col) Jasmeet Kaur. This session was chaired by Dr.Anurag Garg, Dr. Prasanta Sengupta & Dr. Mangesh Chikhale.

The day 1 ended by oral paper and poster presentation held at 10 different venues and judged by senior faculties from various medical colleges. Total 122 posters and 102 papers were received of which 60 posters and 50 papers were selected by scientific committee for presentation. Of these, 12 posters and 10 papers were selected for final day 2 presentation.

The second day began with final oral paper and poster presentation of which first three were selected as winners in each. The scientific programme of pre-lunch session was initiated by Dr. Shubhada Kane’s lecture on “Diagnostic dilemma in the unifocal follicular neoplasms of thyroid and role of ancillary diagnostic techniques”. The chairpersons were Dr. Hemant Kokandakar & Dr. Sharda Rane. The next talk was delivered by Dr. Ketki Kelkar on “Co-relating morphology with molecular diagnostics” which was chaired by Dr. (Brig.) N.S.Mani & Dr. Bageshri Gogate. The last pre lunch talk was given by Dr. Subhash Yadav on “Revolutionizing Pathology: Vital Role of Artificial Intelligence in the Digital Precision Era” which was chaired by Dr. Swapnil Karnik & Dr. Vijay Satav. The post lunch session began with lecture on “Marrow failure syndromes” by Dr. M. B. Agarwal, chaired by Dr. Rumma Manchanda & Dr. Abhijit Baheti. The last lecture was given by Dr. Kalpana Kulkarni on “Assessment of next generation pathologists: A CBME perspective” which was chaired by Dr. Ravindra Karle & Dr. Pramila Menon.

The thorough scientific schedule of 2 days ended with valedictory function on day 2. The dignitaries included Dr. Shubhangi Agale, Dr. Charusheela Gore, Dr. Archana Buch, Dr. Mangesh Londhe & Dr. Anjali Deshpande. The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Shubhangi Agale. The dignitaries distributed the first, second & third prizes to winners of paper & poster session. A few delegates gave a feedback on the CME. The delegates gave their valuable feedback and the session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. S.S. Chandanwale, Senior Professor, Dept. of Pathology, Dr. D.Y.Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Pimpri Pune.
