1. Manoj Matnani, consultant Paediatric Nephrologist, Dr. D.Y. Patil Hospital interacted with Parents of Children and children with various kidney disorders. He also interacted with various children who have received kidney transplants as well as kidney donors.

2.The kidney donors and recipients of kidneys shared their experiences with parents and children with various kidney disorders, particularly those with chronic renal failure requiring transplants. Patients on dialysis shared their experiences with dialysis and cleared doubts about dialysis. Information about what to expect before, during and after a transplant was also imparted to the parents.

3. Kidney donors and recipients were felicitated with coconuts and shawls by Dr. Shailaja Mane, Head of the Department of Paediatrics and Dr. Manoj Matnani, consultant Paediatric Nephrologist, Dr. D.Y. Patil Hospital. Mrs. Mayuri Barge from the Organ Transplant Programme of Dr. D.Y. Patil Hospital,Pimpri, Pune was also present at the event and interacted with the parents and children about the economical and emotional and other aspects of the process of kidney transplant.

4. This was followed by a small informative talk about kidney health and good habits to follow as well as harmful habits to be avoided to maintain healthy kidneys. Common kidney disorders like pyelonephritis, nephrotic syndrome, chronic renal failure, and acute renal failure to name a few, were explained to those present in common layman terms. Those present in the audience asked queries and questions about kidney transplant, kidney problems and kidney health.

5. There was also an interactive activity where children were asked to stick kidney (rajma) beans on silhouettes of the human body. Children who stuck the kidney beans in the correct positions where the kidneys are, were given prizes in the forms of big chocolates. All the participating children were also given chocolates as a participation prize.

6. A cake was cut by all the recipients of kidney transplants and gifts were given to all. The event was graced by Dr. Shailaja Mane, Head of the Department, Pediatrics.

7. Overall, it was an informative and interactive heartwarming program that inspired many to aim for better kidney health for themselves and their parents.
